As we look forward to high school graduation May 22 and the Middle School Promotion Assembly and the last day of school May 30, we decided to do some math.
In their time in East Grand Rapids Public Schools since they were in kindergarten, the Foundation, thanks to our donors, has contributed:
- More than $2.8 million to the education of this year’s 5th graders
- Almost $4 million to this year’s 8th graders
- And more than $5.5 million to this year’s high school seniors
Thank you all for contributing to the Foundation and supporting our students, our schools, and our community! Together, we provide opportunity!
Kent District Library is excited to announce Summer Wonder 2025! Summer Wonder is free for all ages and contains a learning challenge, prizes and a whole lot of fun! Visit kdl.org/summer for more information.

If you have any questions, please contact a technology person at your school.
“It’s not about you — it’s about the love that you give to the animals.”
So said East Grand Rapids Middle School student Jayden McGee, as he and a throng of other sixth-graders wrapped up two hours of volunteer work at the Humane Society of West Michigan in Walker.
The students found themselves at the humane society for the middle school’s annual Day of Caring, which splits up the student population and sends groups off to volunteer at various community organizations.

Program Highlights
PIERS
Our PIERS program aims to purposefully engage students in growing relationships with peers and staff as a foundational support for all students at EGRMS during their middle school years and beyond!
Day of Caring
EGRMS’s Day of Caring is an annual tradition in which the entire student body provides community service within the greater Grand Rapids area. Over the course of one school day, over 1,300 hours of community service are provided! Additionally, the school partners with one organization to teach students about the importance of volunteer service and to raise money for that organization.
Regatta
The EGRMS Regatta is an annual team building event that takes place on Reeds Lake at John Collins Park. Students work in teams to create a boat out of cardboard and duct tape, then compete in a race against other classes. This event serves as the annual fundraiser for the EGRMS PTO.
